Coach Support Initiative (CSI)
The Coach Support Initiative (CSI) is a Harbour Sport Coaching project that is designed to provide schools and sporting organisation support to increase the capability of the coaches within the organisation. The project has 5 Coaching Leaders within the community to help achieve this.  Support from these Coaching Leaders can be accessed by Surf Life Saving Clubs based within the Harbour Sport Boundaries (Mairangi Bay, Red Beach, Orewa, Omaha & Muriwai) and is targeted at two areas;

  1. Organisation support which is designed to help the organisation with their coaching systems and process. This support will help clubs have an efficient coaching framework that enables them to work smarter with the volunteer workforce available to them.
  2. Coaching support which is designed to help develop the capability of those coaching within the clubs. This support can be targeted to individuals or groups of coaches and will help coaches provide quality experiences to those that they are coaching.

If your club is interested in finding out more about how the Coaching Leaders can help your club please contact Dan Grant coach@harboursport.co.nz

Surf Officials to Competitors Ratio
Another reminder that as of 30 June 2015 Clubs will be required to adhere to a new Surf Officials to Competitors Policy at Senior Surf Sports events.  A similar policy has successfully been in place at Junior Surf events for a number of years.
A copy of this Policy can be found here.

What this means is that Clubs will need to ensure they have an adequate number of Surf Officials as described in the Policy to marry up with their competitor numbers.  Surf Life Saving Northern Region will ensure that sufficient numbers of Surf Official courses are run in order to meet Club needs.

If you are already aware that this will be an issue for you please contact Simone Spencer as soon as possible.
